The Puja Committee of SHANGHAI ADDA, organized its 4th Durga Puja celebration at Shanghai . For two days on Oct 23rd and 24th, Bukhara Grill's
third floor was transformed into a puja pandal - one half for the puja itself (performed
by Pandit Pradip Chakraborty), the other half for cultural activities.. An on-the-spot
painting competition in the morning was a big draw.
In the evening, our local talents
took the stage for a three hour song, dance, skit and recitation gala. The days
and evenings resounded to the beat of the dhaak; everyone danced with the dhunichi,
and played with sindoor before bidding goodbye to Ma Durga. To round off the celebrations,
popular singer Abhijit Ghosal took the stage for a pulsating show, wherein he explored
the gamut of musical genres, from the devotional to classical to sentimental to
dance.
As we say, 'Asche bochhor abar hobe' (Next year, we will
do this again!).
